Well,they make great coppiers and other electronics,so why not a good vacuum.All vacuums except the Kirby have one fan,they use the same fan to cool their motors that they use to pick up the dirt with.They are just differant colors and shapes,but for the most part,if you get it from the Marts or the COST GOS,its all about the price,and you get what you pay for.

From 1990 to present day,the Kirby has not changed much,better filtration,and improvements on its transmission and brushroller for the most part,but pretty much the same.A good rebuilt will give you more bang for your buck.
